I graduated among others in German Linguistics at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich/Germany with a thesis on language evolution. Currently, I am a PhD candidate in the Cognitive Science and Language program at the University of Barcelona, under the supervision of Cedric Boeckx.
I am especially interested in the biological foundations and evolutionary emergence of higher cognitive functions in humans and several animal species, with a special focus on the evolution of language. To learn more about this, I apply an approach which primarily considers the role of genes and processes on the molecular level. My current research focuses on the evolution of the language-ready brain.
